Portraits are pictures of a person or people. Students focused on telling a story through their art by using LOTS of details. They filled their space with drawings of their families (K) or themselves (1st) doing something. After the drawings were finished artists were given a chance to present their artwork. Other students had to examine their art and guess what was happening. I LOVE how students used respect and analytical thinking to discuss one another's art.

I loved seeing some familiar faces and some new ones today! Our first day back was wonderful. I look forward to meeting all of my students during specials this week. Over the next week students will get to know the art room, my expectations and start creating! Be sure to check out our first drawing in the hallway when you come by.
If you would like to send in donations to the art room, we are always accepting: baby wipes, cereal/snack (thin cardboard) boxes, and clean foam/plastic egg cartons. These are used for various projects throughout the year. I would love to know if you are interested in volunteering. We love to have guest helpers and artists. Happy first week back everyone! Keep creating, Mrs. Rhodes |
